This project consists of four houses and three bungalows built in a condominium.  It has a big common palapa and a pool.  This is a flat piece of land with no ocean view.  But the project compensates this lack of “view” with a lush tropical garden that is almost overtaking the architecture and that brush past you in the walkways and private pockets they generate.

Part of the challenges of building in this valley was to conduct the excess water rundown form the mountains. On the other hand, fertility was capitalized and palms, bananas, heliconias and papayas abound.

Casa Cerro del vigía

Casas Cerro del Vigia is a five level house built on a steep hillside with torrential waterfalls that pass under the construction. The lower levels live towards a Parota tree while the upper levels enjoy a more panoramic view under a generous palapa. On the East side playa La Ropa and on the west the Sierra Madre Occidental mountains.

Art and Nature Pavilion Contest

The project won an Honorable Mention by the Government of Mexico City

The premise of the contest was to design an Art and Nature Pavilion where the existing Chapultepec Orchidarium in Chapultepec Botanic Garden now stands.

Our proposal was to respect the Orchidarium with maintenance and instead place the Art and Nature Pavilion on another corner of the plaza with scant trees and construction. The idea was to weave the program, respect preexistences and generate a better narrative on the botanical Gardens. We also proposed a system of cisterns to help water the whole garden.
